Strongest robotic arm (prototype), world record set in Somerville, Massachusetts

Somerville, Massachusetts, United States--RISE Robotics, a leader in next-generation industrial actuation, developed the Beltdraulic Super Jammer Arm in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force; achieving an astonishing lift of 7,015 pounds, the new robot sets the world record for the Strongest robotic arm (prototype), according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
"RISE Robotics has officially set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Strongest Robotic Arm Prototype with its Beltdraulic™ SuperJammer Arm, achieving an astonishing lift of 7,015 pounds. The record-breaking event occurred at 1 Union Square, Somerville, MA, with over 80 in-person attendees and more than 100 virtual participants," the Rise Robotics says.
"RISE Robotics, a leader in next-generation industrial actuation, developed the Beltdraulic Super Jammer Arm in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force, aiming to modernize heavy-lift technology while improving efficiency, precision, and sustainability. The arm, featuring six degrees of freedom, significantly outperformed the benchmark of 5,070 pounds for robotic arms.
"The rigorous adjudication process included testing by Element Testing Labs and an industry benchmark analysis conducted by The Aebli Group, verifying that RISE Robotics had far surpassed the previous record."
"During the award presentation, Hiten Sonpal, CEO of RISE Robotics, addressed the audience: "We're not just lifting weight; we're lifting the standard for what's possible in industrial automation." He also acknowledged the contributions of RISE’s engineering team, investors, and supporters and the company’s deep ties to the Somerville, startup, and robotics communities.
"Achieving this milestone was a collaborative effort, made possible through the dedication of the RISE Robotics team and the expertise of key suppliers. Partners like Tackpoint (precision bearings), Roboteq (motor control for the MHU), and Gates (advanced belt technology) were instrumental in ensuring the system’s performance and reliability. Their contributions played a crucial role in setting this world record," the Rise Robotics says.
"Following the official adjudication, attendees celebrated the milestone with a live demonstration, showcasing the Beltdraulic Super Jammer’s unparalleled strength, agility, and efficiency. The event concluded with an Irish-themed celebration in honor of St. Patrick’s Day week, featuring live music by Calum Bell & Friends and an Irish mobile bar, The Wandering Druid."
"The strongest robotic arm (prototype) lifted 3,181.95 kg (7,015 lbs), and was achieved by the Beltdraulic Super Jammer Arm, created by RISE Robotics (USA), in Somerville, Massachusetts, USA as verified on 3 March 2025," the
Guinness World Records says.
"The Beltdraulic arm is an alternative to traditional hydraulic robotic arms. The Super Jammer is able to lift, azimuth, tilt, roll, longitudinal (slide), and yaw (twist)."
"Rise Robotics’ electric Superjammer industrial robotic arm has the best name in the business. And now, it’s gunning for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s strongest non-hydraulic robotic arm," the
Electrek says.
"The top spot in the electric robotic strength contest has been locked down by the Fanuc M-2000iA/2300 for nearly a decade, after that machine hoisted an impressive 2,300 kg (approx. 5,070 lbs.) using a combination of electronic gears, belts, and servos.
"While the demonstration of Rise’ Beltdraulics are impressive for their capability, the real trick here is that the machine is fully electric, emissions-free, and doesn’t use energy-intensive or petroleum-based hydraulic fluids – an arrangement that the company says allows the Superjammer to match the performance of the fossil-fueled competition while using 65-90% less power and fuel."
"While industrial automation is more established than other types of robots, there are still new capabilities to reach and records to be set. RISE Robotics plans to attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the strongest robotic arm prototype," the Robot Report says.
"The Somerville, Mass.-based company offers Beltdraulic, an electric, fluid-free linear actuator technology that it said delivers hydraulic-like power without the inefficiencies. Using a belt-and-pulley system instead of oil, Beltdraulic can halve operating costs, eliminate emissions, and boost energy efficiency, driving a more sustainable future for heavy machinery, it claimed.
"“This unprecedented feat highlights RISE Robotics’ commitment to redefining robotic actuation efficiency, durability, and power,” the company said. “The event will provide industry professionals, media, and key stakeholders an exclusive opportunity to witness cutting-edge technology.”
