The Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded by The World Record Academy to record world record breakers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding significance to the field of world records.

Our Lifetime Achievement awards are awarded to recognize contributions over the whole of a career, rather than or in addition to single contribution.

This award is distinct from the World Record Academy Hall of Fame Award, which honors specific world records rather than individuals.

   PEABODY, MA, USA -- Allan Ganz, 77, has been manning an ice cream truck every day since the age of 10; he has served ice cream to families for 68 years, setting the new world record for the Longest career for an ice cream man.

 HAMPTON, VA, USA--Hardy William Cash, 84, has retired from the City of Hampton after serving 63 years and 210 days , setting the world record for the Longest career as a civil servant.

 "Hardy Cash is a Hampton icon," Mayor Molly Joseph Ward said. "To remain in public service to one city for more than 60 years is a feat that won't likely be duplicated any time soon. We are most grateful to him for his commitment to public service."
  Cash also has a street in Hampton named after him.

Longest serving scout - world record set by Reg Hayes
  LONDON, UK -- Reg Hayes, 95, of Normandy Crescent, Cowley, joined the 2nd Oxford Wolf Cub pack in 1923 and moved up to the SS Mary and John 2nd Oxford Scouts in 1930 – where he has been since , setting the world record for the Longest serving 'boy' scout.

 Mr Hayes was just six when he first signed up.
Reg, a bachelor from Oxford, said: "As an only child it gave me a chance to mix with other young boys and girls. Then I became a leader and started organising camps."

     Mr Hayes, who also worked at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, in Headington, served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Second World War.

 HONOLULU, USA -- Eighty-three-year-old Ron Akana from Boulder, Colo., finished his career as a flight attendant over the weekend on a United Airlines flight from Denver to Kauai, setting the world record for the Longest career as a flight attendant.

Over the years, he's seen it all.    Passengers would dress up, not down. Think suits, not flip-flops. Smoking was no big deal, not a federal offence.

  He returned to his home in Colorado and plans to spend his retirement traveling. From now on, his wife will be joining him.
  "I got terrific travel privileges," he said, adding: "There's a lot to be seen."

  WEST COVINA, CA, USA -- After working at Reynolds Buick GMC dealership in West Covina for 55 years, Deane Salter, who will turn 86 next month, sets the world record for the Longest serving car salesman to work with one single employer.

 Despite having been eligible for retirement more than 20 years ago, Salter said he doesn't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
  "I'll just keep doing what I'm doing," Salter said. "Every sale is sort of a challenge. I enjoy it. It keeps me busy. It keeps your mind sharp. It's fun. That's why I do it."

 NEW YORK, NY, USA--Adele Trapp, 96, first volunteered to serve as den mother for Pack 263 in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood 53 years ago and has been attending weekly meetings ever since - setting the new world record for the Longest serving Cub Scout den mother.
 Trapp, 96, has attended weekly scout meetings of Bedford-Stuyvesant's Pack 263 for more than half her life and has taught kids arts and crafts while offering pearls of wisdom.
   "She loves children. If we are at home, I'll hear her say 'Where are the children?'" said her daughter Evelyn Rainford, 75, who is cub master to the same Brooklyn scout group. "She's just a simple lady who loves children. That's the bottom line."
Ana Aslan first institute of geriatrics
World's First Institute of Geriatrics
OTOPENI, Romania --  Ana Aslan was a Romanian biologist and physician who discovered the anti-aging effects of procaine, based on the drugs Gerovital H3 and Aslavital, which she developed; in 1952, she founded the Geriatric Institute of Bucharest, the World's First Institute of Geriatrics.
   This institute was recognized by the World Health Organization. While experimenting on the effects that procaine had on arthritis, Aslan discovered other beneficial effects of this drug. It was this discovery that led to a three-year study and eventual invention of her drug called Gerovital (H3), which she prescribed for the effects of aging. Her drug was used by many famous politicians and celebrities around the world, including John F. Kennedy.

   Dr Walter Watson, the world's Oldest Practicing Doctor has delivered over 18,000 babies over the years and although he has retired from that particular role, he still makes an effort to see around 5 patients every day, including new ones. There are many Augusta-area families that have several generations of babies delivered by the doctor.

BUCHAREST, Romania -- Dr. Leon Danaila had performed more than 40,200 surgical interventions, out of which 21,779 using the operation microscope, 729 through the use of laser and 18421 classic, without microscope and without laser, thus setting the world record for the Most neurosurgical operations performed.
   In 1980, Dănăilă was granted a Fulbright Scholarship, enabling him to work at the neurosurgery clinic of the University Hospital of New York. The  82-year-old surgeon is still working in Romania because "many younger doctors from the country are being recruited to work in Britain", the BBC reports.

 Nightingale was the first female DJ to present on Radio 1 back in 1970, and has been on air with the station since.

PLOIESTI, Romania -- Justin Capra (1933-2015) was an aeronautical engineer who have devised over a hundred inventions, including 'Soleta', the World's Smallest Car, 72 fuel-efficient cars, 15 unconventional engines and seven aircraft. He claimed to have beaten the Americans to make the world's first jetpack. In 2002 the US officially recognized Capra as the inventor of the jetpack.

GREEN BAY-- A former Green Bay police chief has the Book of World Records stamp of approval. The late Chief Thomas E. Hawley has been officially recognized by the Book of World Records as the World’s Longest Serving Chief of Police.
    Chief Hawley served as the City of Green Bay Police Chief from August 17, 1897 to June 1, 1946 – a total of 49 years.

 The Green Bay Police Department officially began on August 27, 1857 headed by Police Chief Henry Baird and within a few years the department consisted of five officers. Since then it has grown to 192 sworn officers serving a population exceeding 100,000.
