World's Largest Budweiser Can Sculpture: world record in Lavaca, Arkansas

Lavaca, Arkansas, United States--Along Arkansas Highway 22, between the small town of Paris and Fort Smith, there is a silo painted to look like the oversized Budweiser can; David McMahon, Sr., was local Angus cattle breeder and beer distributor who loved Budweiser so much, he hired Earl Harris to paint one of his silos to look like a giant can; the giant beer can sits at about 50 feet tall on Belle Point Ranch in Lavaca, Arkansas; according to the can’s label, it would hold 8,734,902 fluid ounces — the equivalent of 121,318 six-packs, thus setting the world record for the World's Largest Budweiser Can Sculpture, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY .

"David McMahon, Sr., was local Angus cattle breeder and beer distributor who loved Budweiser so much, he hired Earl Harris to paint one of his silos to look like a giant can circa 1975-1976," the Arkansas.com says.

"According to the label, it holds 8,734,902 fluid ounces of brew, enough to fill eight swimming pools; located on private property southwest of town, on the southeast corner of Hwys. 22 and 96; roadside attraction."

"Along Arkansas Highway 22, between the small town of Paris and Fort Smith, there is a silo painted to look like the oversized Budweiser can of every domestic beer drinker's dreams," the Times Record says.

"The silo sits at about 50 feet tall on Belle Point Ranch in Lavaca, surrounded by grassy fields full of cows, where it has been a talking point and landmark for nearly 50 years.

"A love for the beer his family distributed and a creative eye for marketing inspired David McMahon in 1975 to paint one of the silos on his ranch as a replica of a Budweiser can."

"Continuing the things-painted-to-look-like-other-things theme, there’s also a giant Budweiser beer can in nearby Lavaca. Beneath the red, white and blue “Bud” paint is a silo owned by a cattle rancher and local beer distributor whose favorite brew is, well, unsurprisingly obvious!," the Abut You Magazine says.

"The silo was painted in the mid-1970s, and Budweiser even made a commercial featuring video of the paint job in progress. According to the can’s label, it would hold 8,734,902 fluid ounces — the equivalent of 121,318 six-packs. So belly up to the can on the southeast corner of Highways 22 and 96."

"A local farmer -- and beer distributor -- loves Bud so much that he had one of his silos painted to look like a giant version of the familiar can," the Roadside America says.

"After the original owner died, his daughters ran the beer distributor business. They met artist Troy Freeman of Freesky Studios when he was painting a logo on their barn for Certified Angus Beef. Since the original paint on the silo required frequent touching up, they hired Troy in 2018 to redo the silo with a more durable paint. Troy obtained a beer can from the 1974-78 era, completely sandblasted the silo, and recreated the original to exact scale and specs.

"This Giant Budweiser Can is located on the Belle Point Ranch, and can be seen from the intersection of hwy 22 and hwy 96 in Lavaca, Arkansas," the Arkansas State Police says.
