Belleville, Michigan, United States--Jim Wigginton, the owner of the equity firm True North and Thomas J. Noonan lll  set the new world record for the Fastest time to tandem skydive all seven continents, between 09/27/2018 and 03/23/2019. while raising awareness and funds for the Punya Thyroid Cancer Research Foundation, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

James C. Wigginton, also known as Jim, Ph.D. serves as the Managing Partner at True North Equity, LLC.

Mr. Jim Wigginton has pledged to donate a $6 million endowment to support the Punya Thyroid Cancer Endowed Fund and establish the Nancy Wigginton Professorships of Thyroid Cancer.

Mr. Wigginton had previously established the Punya Thyroid Cancer Endowed Fund for the benefit of thyroid cancer clinical research at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center in August 2013 with a gift of $1 million. Since then, he has pledged to donate another $5 million to establish two endowed professorships in memory of Nancy Wigginton.  The combined $6 million is the largest gift to thyroid cancer research at the University of Michigan.

Mr. Wigginton is making the gift in honor of his late wife, Nancy “Punya” Wigginton, who was cared for by Drs. Worden and Haymart, M.D.  This gift recognizes their advances in thyroid cancer research and their outstanding patient care.

Mr. Jim Wigginton is dedicated to raising funds in her name to support thyroid cancer at the University of Michigan.

“She was just one of those energetic, happy, loving, kind people. If you met her once, you’d never forget,” said Wigginton, a managing partner in True North Equity, LLC. “I wanted to do something big, something that would honor her life and everything she went through.”

Nancy Wigginton was diagnosed with advanced thyroid cancer in 2007. She was treated at U-M by Megan Haymart, M.D., who is now the Nancy Wigginton Endocrinology Research Professor of Thyroid Cancer, and Francis Worden, M.D., who is now the Nancy Wigginton Oncology Research Professor of Thyroid Cancer.

Mr. Wigginton is a native of Crittenden County, Kentucky and a current resident of Belleville, Michigan. He is also currently a Managing Partner in True North Equity, LLC., a highly successful private equity firm in Birmingham, Michigan. He and his wife have three children and nine grandchildren.

The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most tandem parachute jumps in 24 hours is 403, achieved at an attempt organised by Teenage Cancer Trust (UK) and inspired by Stephen’s Story at Skydive Hibaldstow, North Lincolnshire, UK, on 10 July 2015.

GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS also recognized the world record for the highest tandem parachute jump (skydive); it is 11,405 m (37,417 ft), and was achieved by James C Wigginton (US) and Arkadiusz Majewski (Poland) in honor of Punya Wigginton, Slawomir Drzymalski and Thomas Noonan Jr in Wyszków County, Poland, on 25 October 2019. This record attempt raises awareness and funds for the Punya Thyroid Cancer Research Foundation, and was achieved with support from Thomas Noonan III and PH de Baere.
