INTERLOCHEN, Michigan, United States--Interlochen's Hofbrau, a popular northern Michigan restaurant, (Manager
Max McAllister),teamed up with sponsors Tullamore Dew and
Higher Grounds Trading Co. to make and serve up a 550-gallon Irish coffee, which sets the new world record for the
Largest Irish coffee, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
Max McAllister, Hofbrau's general manager, said the restaurant has been planning the record attempt for more than a year.

The whiskey comes from Tullamore Dew. The coffee is from Traverse City-based Higher Grounds Trading Co. The brown sugar comes from Michigan’s Pioneer Sugar. Mesick-based My Metal Medium made the huge custom mug.
All served up in a custom mug that measured 7’ tall and 6.5’ across made by Mesick-based My Metal Medium.
Irish coffee Drink
Irish coffee is a caffeinated alcoholic drink consisting of Irish whiskey, hot coffee, and sugar, stirred, and topped with cream. The coffee is drunk through the cream.
Hofbrau Owner Brian McAllister said that he and his son have been preparing for more than a year.
"Well, we want to set the Book of World Records, the current record is 350 gallons. We're making Irish Coffee for 550 gallons,” McAllister said.
The St. Patrick’s Day party also included live music, a cabbage eating contest and a “beer hoist” competition, which involved holding full beer mugs out in front of one’s body for as long as possible.
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most Irish coffees made in three minutes is 49 and was achieved by Rory McGee (Ireland), in association with Paddy Irish Whiskey, in Dublin, Ireland, on 25 January 2020.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS also listed the world record for the Largest coffee party (multiple venues), set by Macmillan Cancer Relief (UK), which broke their world record of the previous year for the largest coffee morning with a total number of 576,157 people attending over 26,000 meetings simultaneously throughout the UK on 26 September 2003.
