ALBA IULIA, AB, Romania -- The National Ambulance Day
was celebrated in Alba Iulia
in the presence of all county ambulance service managers, Health Minister Sorina Pintea
, and the head of the Emergency Situations Department (DSU) Raed Arafat
; a convoy of 45 ambulances, including a one-of-a-kind, carried on a platform, each carrying the flag of the ambulance service it represents, scrolled through Alba Iulia in a festive march, thus setting the world record for the Largest parade of ambulances
, according to the Academy Of World Records.
After the parade, ambulance crews provided free medical consultations (ECG, blood sugar, blood pressure) to various residents of the Alba Carolina Fortress for locals and tourists who requested it.
THE HISTORY OF ROMANIAN AMBULANCE SERVICE
In 1906, the first "Salvation" appeared in Bucharest, at the initiative of Professor Nicolae Minovici.
The "Rescue Society of Bucharest", as it was called, was operating under the slogan "Always and for all, ready for help!", Under the direct guidance of Professor Minovici.
The first crew consisted of a city and a sergeant of the city, who used a horse drawn carriage, having as its headquarters an old building located on the Dâmboviţa Quay.
The ambulance was donated by the rescue station in Vienna, and the next two were brought from Paris.

Since 1907, Salvation has functioned regularly, making Romania the third state in Europe, after the Netherlands and Austria, with such a service.
In 1912, the first car ambulances were brought to Bucharest, in Paris.
In 1931, Professor Nicolae Minovici theorized for the first time in the world "pushing the qualified medical act to the scene of the accident".
“The ambulance is the outpost of an endless battle. Over three million
Romanians call the ambulance every year. The budget allocated for the
ambulance services is of RON 720 million and there is room for more
respect,” said state secretary Dorel Sandesc.
