World's Largest Nutcracker, world record in Roseburg, Oregon

Roseburg, Oregon, United States--Standing at over 40 feet tall and weighing more than 16,000 pounds, Herr Woody Winterguard The Nutcracker is located at River Forks Park as part of the Festival of Lights in Roseburg, Oregon, every year; it sets the world record for being the World's Largest Nutcracker, according to the WORD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Did you know that the world’s largest nutcracker is located right here in Roseburg, Oregon? Standing at over 40 feet tall and weighing more than 16,000 pounds, his name is Herr Woody Winterguard and he’s located at River Forks Park as part of the Festival of Lights! Swing by before January 1st to enjoy a drive-through holiday themed light show!," the Experience Roseburg says.

"Thanks to the generosity of local donors, Herr Woody Wintergaurd got a makeover! Woody was cleaned up, power washed, repainted and revarnished. He’s now looking brand new and you can take a look at him at the Festival of Lights this year.

"The nutcracker was originally built by a Willamette Valley woodworker, Toby Johnson, using chain saws back in 2014. It’s built from a variety of woods including sequoia, coastal redwood, western red cedar and Port Orford cedar. The metal work was done by Intermountain Innovations Corps."

"Towering at 41 feet, the world’s largest nutcracker, Herr Woody Winterguard, stands watch over the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights in Roseburg each December. For his 10th season, Woody this year received a refurbishing with a power wash and fresh coat of paint," the Here is Oregon says.


"Woody, and the entire Festival of Lights, were the creations of Kerwin Doughton, a member of the Roseburg Rotary Club who started the drive-thru light display in 1993. The event raises money for the Rotary Club, which uses proceeds to pay for student scholarships and club service projects.


"Today, the Umpqua Valley Festival of Lights includes more than 90 displays and half a million lights across River Forks Park. An estimated 25,000 people visit every year."
