"A doomsday community is looking for 'average people' to become residents in its bunkers as preparation for 'when all hell breaks loose.' The former army base, which stretches across 18 miles, is located deep in the Black Hills mountain range in South Dakota. "Hidden away from the world in South Dakota's remote Black Hills, Vivos xPoint is the self-proclaimed largest survival community in the world. From the sky, the site looks like little more than a vast expanse of undulating land. In reality, however, each small hill is home to an underground bunker, stretching as far as the eye can see," the loveProperty says.

"Almost the size of Manhattan, Vivos xPoint encompasses 18 square miles of secure land, with 575 bunkers arranged along 100 miles of private road. Built like a fortress, the fenced compound has just one road in and out, allowing the 24/7 onsite security team, comprising military-trained guards, to identify anyone approaching the property from up to three miles away.

"If your application is successful, you'll be able to purchase one of the compound's private concrete shelters. Built by the army to withstand a 500,000-pound internal blast, these tough hideouts are as resilient as they come. "More than 800 bunkers were used to store weapons and ammunition for the military, and in the 1950’s it was listed as one of the largest cities in the state. Fort Igloo was closed during the summer of 1967 when the government shut it down. It has been over 50 years and the ghost town of Fort Igloo will now be transformed by Vivos and its founder Robert Vicino into the xPoint Survival Community.

"The massive complex is spread over a sprawling and remote, off-grid area of approximately 18-square miles. It is strategically and centrally located in one of the safest areas of North America, at a high and dry altitude of 3,800 feet, relatively mild weather and well inland from all large bodies of water. It is over 100 miles from the nearest known military nuclear targets."

"Located in South Dakota, the bunkers that comprise Vivos xPoint were built in 1942 by the military, which used the property for munitions storage. The campus fell out of use in 1967, when the bunkers were also gutted and cleared of all military supplies, paving the way for Vivos to acquire the property in 2016.

"The shelters range in size, varying between 60 and 80 feet in length, with a uniform width of around 26 feet. Vivos advertises that the shelters are capacious enough to store a year’s worth of supplies."

"The 575 hardened concrete bunkers on the site were originally built in 1942 as an army munitions depot known as Fort Igloo, which was eventually retired in 1967. California-based survival company Vivos is now repurposing the massive complex, which is spread over approximately 18 square miles. The off-grid area is surrounded by a fence, and reached by road or a nearby municipal airport."

"Developers of community shelters like these often acquire decommissioned military bunkers and missile silos built by the United States or Soviet governments – sites that would cost hundreds of millions of dollars to build today.  One of those shelters, Vivos xPoint, is near the Black Hills of South Dakota, and consists of 575 military bunkers that served as an Army Munitions Depot until 1967," the CNN says.

"Presently being converted into a facility that will accommodate about 5,000 people, the interiors of each bunker are outfitted by the owners at a cost of between $25,000 to $200,000 each. The price depends on whether they want a minimalist space or a home with high-end finishes.

"The compound itself will be equipped with all the comforts of a small town, including a community theater, classrooms, hydroponic gardens, a medical clinic, a spa and a gym."

"Now, what if I told you that the largest community of this type is located right here in Mount Rushmore State? That’s right, this massive complex with underground bunkers in South Dakota is located in the Black Hills, and is the largest survival community on earth," the Only In Your State says.

"The massive site has the potential to house around 5,000 underground residents and shelter them from nearly any catastrophic event that may occur. Withstanding a 500,000-pound internal blast (7 bars of pressure), folks are sure to feel safe here. Other features include concrete and steel doors sealed to prevent the infiltration of air, gas, and water.

"All shelters are well-stocked with supplies, equipment, food, and fuel needed for long-term, underground survival. Water will be pumped from two water wells, and each bunker will have a distribution system installed."
