Grand Island, Nebraska, United States--A giant pair of vintage overalls, on display at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds in  Grand Island, Nebraska, part of a vendor display for the Lee company sometime in the 20th century, are about seven feet wide and 18 feet high, setting the world record for the World's Largest Pair of Vintage Overalls, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

""We don't have a whole lot of information about them," said Jace Robinson at the Nebraska State Fairgrounds, talking about the World's Largest Pair of Overalls. They arrived, he said, sometime in the 20th century, when the Fairgrounds were in Lincoln, as part of a vendor display for the Lee company. When the company ended its affiliation with the Fair, the salesman who ran the display took the overalls home with him," the Roadside America says..

"How large are the World's Largest Pair of Overalls? "We don't have that information, and we can't find anyone who does," said Jace, although he's been told that frame holding them is seven feet wide and 18 feet high.

"Jace reassured us that the Fairgrounds was committed to keeping the Overalls on public display, but conceded that their immense size was a logistical problem. "How do you display something that big without covering something else up?"

"Overalls, the undisputed, down-home uniform of real Cornhuskers, are finally getting their due, at least in one small Nebraska town," the Journal Star says.

"The history of overalls goes back to the 1700s, when writings mentioned them as protective clothing for slaves. By the 1890s, they were being mass produced by Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis — who invented metal-riveted blue jeans in 1873 — as essential work clothes for farmers and miners, as well as railroad workers and loggers.

"They were called "overalls" because they were originally designed to be worn "over" regular clothing. The first blue jeans were referred to as "waist overalls" because they had no bib."

"We are camping in Grand Island, Nebraska, because we found a couple factory tours in town. But we ended up finding so much more as we wandered all over this little city. That wandering brought us to the state fairgrounds where two different groups were gathering," Wandering His Wonders says.

"It was opening day of the "Classic Green Reunion" where John Deere owners brought their old tractors from all over the country. We saw lines of John Deere green tractors, some of which were for sale. Others were works of love that had been refurbished and were now displayed to make other attendees green with envy.

"While wandering the Nebraska state fairgrounds we found--you guessed it--the world's largest overalls. Sewn in the 1930s, this 22-foot-long pair of overalls have been hanging out in Nebraska for almost 90 years."

"Grand Island is a city in and the county seat of Hall County, Nebraska, United States.[3] The population was 53,131 at the 2020 census," the Wikipedia says.

"Grand Island is the principal city of the Grand Island metropolitan area, which consists of Hall, Merrick, Howard and Hamilton counties. The Grand Island metropolitan area has an official population of 83,472 residents.

"Grand Island has been given the All-America City Award four times (1955, 1967, 1981, and 1982) by the National Civic League."
