"McLaren Engineering Group assisted King Digital Entertainment, the creators of “Candy Crush”, to celebrate the launch of their new app, “Paradise Bay,” by engineering the world’s largest hammock for a record breaking installation at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ," the McLaren Engineering Group reports.

"The hammock made the Book of Guinness World Records, measuring at a grand 65 feet long by 31 feet wide. McLaren’s entertainment engineering team designed aluminum truss spreader bars, covered with plywood, that separated the hammock termination lines to crane pick points to secure the support structure.

"The firm also engineered 35-foot-tall palm trees, comprised of aluminum rental truss and a custom-welded pipe that adorned decorative palm leaves. The structure was covered with burlap, creating the illusion that the hammock was supported by real palms. These “trees” were stabilized using multiple steel cables and earth anchors."

"The Video game company King Digital Entertainment is behind the 65-foot-by-31-foot hammock, and they installed it as a promotional gimmick to acquire new customers and draw publicity," the Hammock Town reports.

"The Hammock Claimed the Guinness World Record title of World’s Largest Hammock. It’s located in Jersey City, New Jersey, across the river from Manhattan, and it is reportedly big enough to hold 170 humans lying side by side."

"From its location at the edge of Jersey City, loungers - of which it could accommodate hundreds - can enjoy views of Manhattan across the Hudson river," the Independent reports.

"Unfortunately it is all just a stunt by a smartphone game developer and not a long-term installation for revellers in NJ, but it was still by recognised by Guinness World Records as being the largest ever.

"The hammock measures 65 feet by 31 feet and is over 10 times the size of a regular hammock, making it big enough to fit 170 people lying head-to-head and side-by-side, 24 New York City taxis and (I don’t know why this was noted) 1000 bass-sized fish."

"Actress Malin Akerman (Watchmen, Couples Retreat, The Proposal) took time out of her busy filming schedule in New York City to relax on the hammock, as Liberty State Park was transformed into an island-themed tropical paradise. With Malin reclining atop the giant hammock surrounded by tropical palm trees and a sandy shoreline, gaming fans were reminded to take time out during the hustle and bustle of their daily routines and escape to Paradise Bay this fall for a few relaxing moments at the beach.

"The giant hammock embodies the core elements of the Paradise Bay game which takes players on a journey through lands of crystal clear waters and the bluest of skies, as they discover exciting new islands, meet a quirky and colorful cast of characters and build and customize their very own tropical paradise along the way."
