Island Park, Idaho, United States--Island Park, a city in Fremont County, Idaho, United States, it is only 500 feet (150 m) wide in most locations yet, at 33 miles (53 km), thus setting the world record for having the World's Longest Main Street, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Island Park is a city in Fremont County, Idaho, United States. The city's population was 286 at the 2010 census, up from 215 in 2000. The city was incorporated by owners of the many lodges and resorts along U.S. Route 20 in 1947, primarily to circumvent Idaho's liquor laws that prohibited the sale of liquor outside of city limits.

"The city of Island Park, for all other descriptive words, is “unique” in its entirety. It was incorporated in May of 1947 to meet a state law requiring businesses that serve or sell alcoholic beverages to be within incorporated towns," the Island Park Idaho says.


"The city government at the time drew up the city’s boundaries to include all of the businesses that desired licenses to serve and sell alcoholic beverages from Last Chance heading north to the Montana border. "The Henrys Fork of the Snake River winds through Island Park and its headwaters arise from both Henry’s Lake and Big Springs. There are many ponds, lakes, and streams in the Island Park area, creating opportunities for world-class fishing, even in winter.

"The other aspect that makes Island Park such a great destination for winter fun, is the altitude, around 6,000 feet, combined with an unusual amount of precipitation — around 230 inches annually. It snows a lot and that snow sticks around."

"About two miles north of Pond’s Lodge, is the west bound Yale Kilgore Road that takes you out to Shotgun and our facility is located about 3 miles west of Shotgun Village. The cabin is set back off the private road on an 8 acre piece of land surrounded by forest service property."
