"Sitting atop Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich, Maine, sits Larry the Lobster, a towering inflatable crustacean standing at 12 feet high and 700 feet long. It also weighs a whopping 700 pounds, according to the below drive-by video shared by the restaurant," the WOKQ says.

"Open since 1978, Taste of Maine Restaurant is not only Larry the Lobster's home, but serves the "freshest, sweetest seafood from the Atlantic Ocean". The addition of Larry was in celebration of the restaurant's then-40th anniversary back in 2018, according to News Center Maine.

"Besides being the site of the world-champion lobster, it's impossible to mention Taste of Maine without discussing their famous "World's Largest Lobster Roll." Served on a toasted roll with lettuce and mayo, the World's Largest Lobster Roll is over two feet long and consists of almost two pounds of fresh Maine lobster. Sam Ramsdell, a viral TikToker and Mainer with the "World's Largest Mouth", shared the below video of her tackling this beast of a meal."

"Larry the Lobster is our World’s Largest Inflatable Lobster. He’s 70 feet long 12 feet high and 700 pounds. Come over and check it out!! The Deck is open over looking the Saanoa River!🦞," the Taste of Maine Restaurant says.

"Our family owned and operated restaurant serves fresh, mouth watering Maine lobster and seafood, perfectly complimented by our great steaks. Our spacious restaurant is filled with beautiful antique collectibles from all over Maine. Enjoy your meal as you look at Pleasant Cove, one of the prettiest waterfronts in Maine, or dine outdoors on our beautiful sun deck.

"At the Taste of Maine we love our customers and when you dine with us we want you to know that loyalty counts! Throughout the year we are adding events, offering different specials and simply enjoying being one of the best restaurants in mid-coast Maine."

"This legendary restaurant has been serving up delicious seafood since 1978. They have a few claims to fame, one being a giant inflatable lobster that sits on top of the roof, and covers about 75% of it, and the other is their claim that they serve "The World’s Largest Lobster Roll," the Z107.3 says.

"These bad boys are 22-inches long, and it has become a dare that many customers have taken on over the years. In fact, should you finish this beast, you become an official member of "The Clean Plate Club" which based on the sheer size of this lobster roll, is no easy feat.

"If you happen to be in the Woolwich area this Memorial Day weekend, or during the summer ahead, just look for the giant inflatable lobster!"

"Taste of Maine had this idea of having a rooftop inflatable on their building for their 40th anniversary. A giant lobster to be specific. They provided specs on the size of the building and on how big they wanted the lobster to be and we agreed that in the end a 22 foot tall by 70 foot lobster would cover their building the way they envisioned it. This behemoth weighs a total of 660 lbs. The replica was definitely something that we didn't have in our inventory since the largest size we offer is a 25 foot (on longest side), but we worked with our design team to create the graphics and patterns necessary for this large project. Once everything was approved, we manufactured it exactly to the Taste of Maine's vision and we could be prouder," the Promotional Design Group says.

"This particular lobster was purchase but we do offer a rentals program. Obviously, since it is far outside our typical inflatable size parameters it is considered a custom inflatable. When passerby see such a sight, it is bound to stick with them. You can't unsee a 70 foot lobster! As a matter of fact, its large size makes it clearly visible from afar and its bright red just adds to that. Any rooftop inflatable is meant to attract attention to your business because it is not a common sight.

"Taste of Maine already produces great food that has fascinated customers for the last 40 years! When they added this large inflatable lobster to their building for their anniversary it attracted attention from the news! The local news took note of it and they told their readers/viewers about it! The headlines for the stories about the lobster are great too! One of them read "Need More Butter: Giant Lobster Perched On Top Of Restaurant." In essence, it was a great success and we wish Taste of Maine the best for years to come following their 40th anniversary."

"Instead, the long-standing Route 1 landmark in Woolwich, the Taste Of Maine restaurant will be celebrating their 40th anniversary in operation by placing a gigantic inflatable lobster on the roof of their building when they open for the season," the WCYY says.

"Sharing the big announcement on their Facebook page, the restaurant stated that this "bad boy" would be one of many surprises the establishment plans for their landmark anniversary.

"The artist renderings of the planned design look pretty wild and will certainly draw the attention of the passerby's on one of Maine's busiest roads. Hope they have enough butter handy for when this thing is cooked."

"If you're driving on Route 1, you may see something a bit out of the ordinary. A giant, inflatable lobster sits atop the Taste of Maine in Woolwich," the Yahoo Sports says.

"The lobster was put on the restaurant's roof this week to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The Taste of Maine first opened in 1978.

"The lobster, which the restaurant has named Larry, is 70 feet long and 12 feet tall. He will be on top of the restaurant for six months."

"Known for its 24-inch lobster rolls and giant inflatable roof lobster, Larry, tourist hotspot Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich may see new ownership in 2024. For over four decades, the Gregory family has owned the establishment, but on Wednesday, owners Candy and Scott Gregory announced in a Facebook post that they are planning to sell the restaurant and retire," The Portland Press Herald says.

"“I’m sure some of you have seen the ‘For Sale’ sign on the Taste of Maine,” the post stated. “Actually, we started the process last May. With this being said this will in no way affect our upcoming season. We will be celebrating our 45th year with the return of Larry the Lobster on the roof. We look forward to serving you in the spring.”

"The 16,310-square-foot restaurant is listed at $4.5 million on bizbuysell.com. The listing indicates retirement as the reason for the sale and says the owners are willing to work with the buyers to make the transition smooth. It is unclear if the owners will only sell to someone planning to keep the structure as a restaurant. Now closed for winter, Taste of Maine will reopen in May for what could be its final season under the Gregory family ownership. The owners have yet to reveal their plans for the 700-pound, inflatable Larry the Lobster."

"The Taste of Maine Restaurant serves fresh, mouth-watering Maine lobster and seafood, complemented by great steaks. The restaurant offers both a great atmosphere and gorgeous view of Pleasant Cove, one of the prettiest waterfronts in Maine. The Restaurant is famous for serving the World’s Largest Lobster Roll. The colossal sandwich is 24 inches long and filled with 1 1/4 pounds of fresh lobster meat," the bizbuysell.com says.

"The Taste of Maine Restaurant was Down East Magazine’s winner of the Best Lobster Roll in Maine in 2021. The restaurant has also won many awards in past Bath Holiday Parades, chowder competitions, and many others – all of which hang on the walls as you enter the building. However, the restaurant’s greatest achievement is being as successful as they are after 43 years in business.

"Based on the restaurant’s location, water views, size and seating capacity, it's in a class of its own. This business is unique in its ability to accommodate busloads of diners. It can also cater weddings for groups of 50 to 300 guests in its function area(s). This business has the parking, staff, kitchen space, and the ability to do what few other restaurants in Maine can do."
