World's Fastest Armored Car, world record in Jackson, Wyoming

Jackson, Wyoming, United States--AddArmor, a company based in Jackson, Wyoming, United States, created the Audi RS7, a car covered with AddArmor's in-house paneling and ballistic glass to create a speedy and safe armored vehicle; the RS7 can sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds and reach speeds of up to 202 miles per hour, setting the world record for the World's Fastest Armored Car, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Meet the AddArmor APR RS7, a vehicle built to withstand bullets, explosions, and anyone who might be trying to put a stop to your day. AddArmor has taken pride in building a luxury sports sedan that can not only protect its occupants but also reach speeds north of 200 miles per hour," The Drive says.

"Unlike most armored cars, the RS7 hasn't been bogged down by heavy steel. In fact, because AddArmor used a special polycarbonate composite rather than traditional methods, the total armoring weight adds "no more than 200 pounds" to the vehicle's overall weight.

"AddArmor's B4-level armoring creates a multi-level mixture of polycarbonate and ballistic glass to protect vehicle occupants. Ballistically, it can stop small arms fire up to .44 magnum with ease; optional B7-level armoring can stop larger caliber rifle ammunition and armor-piercing rounds."

"The armor package on the AddArmor APR RS7 consists of polycarbonate body panels and ballistic glass with layers of polycarbonate throughout that are claimed to be 10 times stronger than ballistic steel while weighing 60 percent less. AddArmor says this should offer protection against repeated impacts from blunt objects like bats and cinder blocks, and when it comes to firepower, the armor is capable of stopping a .44 Magnum round," the New Atlas says.

"All of this adds around 200 lb (90 kg) to the RS7, which has been compensated for with a special performance package that makes 760 hp and 800 lb-ft (1,085 Nm) of torque, along with a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds. Top speed, meanwhile, is listed as 202 mph (325 km/h), and the car runs on Pirelli P Zero Run Flat tires that can apparently continue driving for 30 mi (48 km) even after being shot multiple times with a high-powered rifle. AddArmor has wrapped an Audi RS7 in its special in-house paneling and glass to produce what it says is the fastest armoured car in the world.

"The security features aren't all passive either. The AddArmor APR RS7 packs a sonic sound canon and 120-decibel siren, electric-shock door handles and pepper spray dispensers. There's also a barrier built into the front bumper to protect against ramming, and up back is an ultra-bright lighting system to temporarily blind assailants. Tucked away in the trunk, meanwhile, is a set of biometric gun racks for assault rifles and handguns.

"Also aboard the AddArmor APR RS7 is a drone-jamming system, a 360-degree night vision system, gas masks and air tanks in case there is a chemical attack, and what the company calls a Global 911 concierge service. This is like a private emergency response service where security staff in a command center monitor occupants' wellbeing through their phones and beacons embedded in the car, and take action if something seems awry."

"The Audi RS7 brings a whole new dynamic for armored cars and going fast, rather than the slow, heavy SUV's. AddArmor used a lightweight combat-proven polycarbonate armor panel for this car, making it 10x stronger but 60% less weight than the ballistic steel normally used. The armor paneling only adds an extra 200 lbs to the vehicle," the KGAB says.

"This car is a level B4 on the European Committee for Standardization Ballistic Levels, it can withstand a bullet from a 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and a .44 Magnum. It is the fastest armored car because it can get up to 202mph. It has a special performance package engine in it giving the car 760 horsepower and the torque is 800 pound-feet.

"The car also features door handles that either sprays out pepper spray or electrocute, the rear lights are designed to temporarily blind someone, and onboard gas masks and air tanks for fresh air. Check out the video to see all the features."

"Every red-blooded man has, at some point, daydreamed of owning an armored car complete with Knight Rider-style, urban assault gadgets. But, those driven in real life by foreign dignitaries and heads of state are typically just unassuming (read: boring) SUVs with a boatload of old-school armor plating hidden in the door and body panels," The Manual says.

"Elite automotive customizer AddArmor takes the concept to a whole new level with an upgraded Audi RS7 that’s reportedly the fastest armored car in the world.

"From the outside, AddArmor’s APR RS7 Coupe appears like most any other Audi Sportback. Only the sweeping body lines, steeply raked windscreen, massive high-performance Pirelli tires, and rear spoiler hint that this is more than your average family sedan. But, beneath the otherwise stealth exterior is a world of James Bond-worthy gadgetry. The car arms driver and passengers to guard against everything from small arms fire and mine attacks to carjacking and kidnapping."

"AddArmor, known as much for the pedigree of its leadership as for designing what they call sophisticated mobile safe rooms, recently announced its latest creation: the “world’s fastest armored car.” It’s an Audi RS7 built with a polycarbonate weave they say is 10x stronger than ballistic steel," the Soldiers Systems Daily says.

"The new 202 mph APR-tuned RS7 was designed and built to showcase new developments in lightweight combat-proven polycarbonate armor paneling. Armored vehicles have long been associated with lumbering, heavy duty trucks. This was apparently the impetus that pushed AddArmor design.

"As they describe it, they decided to showcase a truly modernized armored car that could put lie to such impressions – and by doing so to highlight just how far modern armor technology has evolved. The result is a car they claim can perform at speeds of more than 200mph sporting an armor material weighing 60% less than ballistic steel."

"A company based in Wyoming called AddArmor has created what it claims to be the world's fastest armored vehicle. The car it chose for its bulletproof creation is the Audi RS7.The car is covered with AddArmor's in-house paneling and ballistic glass to create a speedy and safe armored vehicle. The armor package for the vehicle includes polycarbonate body panels and ballistic glass with layers of polycarbonate through. The panels are said to be ten times stronger than ballistic steel and to weigh 60% less," the Slash Gear says.

"The company claims its armor adds protection from blunt objects like bats and cinder blocks. It can also withstand firearms and can stop a .44 Magnum round. The additional weight of the armor adds a mere 200 pounds to the weight of the RS7.

"The Audi is still very fast thanks to a special performance package that makes 760hp and 800 lb-ft of torque. That gives the car a very fast 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds. The top speed for the car is 202 mph. The tires on the ride are Pirelli P Zero Run Flat units able to continue operating for 30 miles after being shot multiple times with a rifle."

"Jay Leno recently played the role of East Coast wise-guy on his CNBC show Jay Leno’s Garage. The segment involved Leno driving AddArmor’s APR-tuned Audi RS7 to evade a staged attack from Joe Vega, AddArmor’s VP of Research & Development and a former U.S. Special Mission Unit Operator. Jay demonstrated the Audi’s on-board smokescreen capability, drone-denial frequency-jamming and other military-bred technology to illustrate various modern ways a vehicle can be used tactically," The Shop Mag says.

"The show’s set-up involved Jay fending off a pursuit and potential attack using the AddArmor Audi’s taser-like shock handles and pepper-spray dispensers. Jay then asked the AddArmor team about high-tech armoring for civilian vehicles. “The idea behind adding armor is to create a mobile saferoom that protects its passengers from any type of attack and provides peace of mind that cannot be achieved in an unarmored vehicle,” AddArmor CEO and former Special Forces Mission Unit Commander Pete Blaber explained to Leno.

"AddArmor President Jeff Engen, a former law-enforcement officer, added, “We wanted to show that our armor is so light that we can get this car up to nearly 200 miles per hour. Our lightweight armor is a big differentiator from a lot of our competitors using steel.”

"For vehicles heading into combat zones, AddArmor installs B6-grade composite armor. Like steel, B6 is capable of stopping anything up to and including a 7.62 x 51 from an AK-47 or a .223 round from an M16 or AR-15. It can stop any small-arms round that travels at velocities up to 3,250 foot per second. A fast car is harder to take down," the Forbes Magazine says.

"Modified by famed Audi tuner APR to produce as much as 765 horsepower and about 800 lb. ft. of torque from its twin-turbo V8, the AddArmor RS7 is a strong sprinter from standstill to triple-digits. This is no lumbering Brinks truck. One can pull up alongside a comparable European sports sedan, signal “game on” and race with style.

"To save a little weight, this car uses B4-grade composite armor in the doors, which weighs a mere 0.8 lbs. per square foot that adds about 245 lbs., yet can stop extremely powerful handgun rounds. The RS7 also has B4 ballistic glass, which can readily stop handgun rounds."

"Armored cars have one job: protect their occupants. Arguably, their follow-up task is to ensure a quick getaway from confrontation. This tuned Audi RS 7 nails both tasks. The package comes from AddArmor, which according to Carscoops, has made its armored RS 7 the fastest armored car in the world. The specs are incredible. Thanks to tuning from APR, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 now makes 760 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque. The power figures are enough to push the armored fastback sedan to 202 mph," the Motor Authority says.

"What really helps the RS 7 is the type of protection used. Instead of ballistic steel, AddArmor opted for polycarbonate weave cocooning. The material weighs 60 percent less than ballistic steel, yet still provides B4 levels of ballistic protection. Total, there's only 200 pounds of extra heft onboard. As for the glass, it's created from a multi-layer mix of polycarbonate and ballistic glass. It'll stop rounds from a .44-caliber handgun if you're wondering. No word on what type of explosions the RS 7 can handle, however.

"Not only will the car make for some seriously quick getaways, it also has a few tricks at its disposal. AddArmor has dug into the war chest for secret agents and fitted a pepper spray system, smokescreen, and a "sonic sound cannon." The RS 7 can also blind foes with aircraft-like lighting. If an enemy gets close enough to open a car door, the handle will shock the outgunned bad guy. Additional protective measures include a mine and explosive detection system and an oxygen system in case of a chemical attack."
