World's largest indoor beachfront waterpark: world record in Atlantic City, New York

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey, United States--With a retractable glass roof, a lazy river, 11 waterslides, pools, outlet shops, bars and restaurants galore, the 103,000-square-foot, $100 million Island Waterpark in Atlantic City, New York, adjacent to the Showboat Hotel, to be opened around Memorial Day weekend 2023, will set the world record for being the World's Largest Indoor Beachfront Waterpark, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

“Atlantic City has a long and rich history as a premier tourist destination,” said Bart Blatstein, the developer who owns the property, in an official statement. “Showboat is committed to bringing non-gaming, family-friendly entertainment back to Atlantic City, and the waterpark is one more to that puzzle.”

"Dubbed Island Waterpark, the new destination is part of the already-open Showboat Hotel, formerly a casino and now a non-gambling stop," the Hotel & Leisure Advisors reports.

"With a retractable glass roof, a lazy river, 11 waterslides, pools, outlet shops, bars and restaurants galore, the 103,000-square-foot, $100 million Island Waterpark will surely be a sight for sore eyes… and a mere two hour drive from New York City.

"Even those who generally don’t venture down the Jersey Shore may be interested in this new development: What bills itself to be the “largest indoor beachfront waterpark in the world” is now under construction in Atlantic City."

"ISLAND Waterpark at Showboat will be the largest indoor/outdoor beachfront waterpark in the world when it opens on the New Jersey Avenue beach block next to the Showboat Hotel at 801 Boardwalk. Not only will the facility include a waterpark, but also party rooms, retail, dining options, spa offerings, a lounge, and other amenities for everyone in the family to enjoy. Philadelphia-based developer Bart Blatstein of Tower Investments, who owns Atlantic City’s Showboat Resort non-gambling hotel, is hoping the venue will be ready to open its doors for Memorial Day weekend of 2023," the What's On Philly reports.

"It’s a great project because Atlantic City is lacking family amenities. There are 25 million visitors each year and an extremely limited amount of entertainment options for families. There will be a swath of people added to that roster with this huge indoor water park,” Blatstein told What Now Philadelphia. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the rebirth of Atlantic City as a family resort and family destination.”

"“This is a great day for Atlantic City,” said Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small said in a press release. “Investing in our community through growth will bring jobs and economic recovery to our area. We have lacked family entertainment, and this waterpark is the catalyst to draw more families to our great city and give families who live here something great and fun to do!”

"Featuring state of the art surf machines for real life size waves and the largest custom aqua forms in the world, Island Waterpark will be a destination for the entire family. Outlet shops, bars and restaurants, as well as entertainment areas will make the waterpark the best vacation destination in Atlantic City," the official website says.

"Philadelphia developer Bart Blatstein is doubling down on non-casino attractions by adding this entirely new concept of family-friendly entertainment to complement the Showboat’s massive 100,000 square feet “Lucky Snake” arcade and sports bar.

"Thrilling rides year-round thanks to our surf simulator machine. It’s always summer at Island Waterpark at Showboat! Featuring: Boardwalk Food & Beverages Indulgences, Swimwear Boutique, Exclusive Lounge Areas, Party Rooms, Adult Pool & Cabanas & More."
