"Manhattan’s iconic Crown Building is reimagined as Aman New York, where the city’s original architectural splendour and Aman’s harmonious design language collide, reimagining the inimitable tranquillity of Aman in the heart of Manhattan’s midtown," the official website says.

"With a year-round Garden Terrace, flagship Aman Spa and spacious suites all among the largest in the city.

"Among the largest in the city, Aman New York's Suites and Signature Suites are inspired by the airy architecture of Aman’s properties in Southeast Asia. Ideal for business or leisure guests alike, they offer a never-before experienced sense of sanctuary in the very heart of the Manhattan’s midtown - an invitation to switch off from the outside world.

"From the Fifth Avenue Junior Suite to the Aman Suite, each offers a functioning fireplace, a first in New York City, while bathrooms are opulent and oversized with oval soaking bathtubs, marble rain showers and double vanities. Large windows offer immersive views and the use of organic, natural materials and muted tones brings a sense of balance and harmony reminiscent of that found in Aman resorts of the East.

"It says a lot that Aman New York is the world’s biggest hotel opening in 2022. The high-end brand’s debut property in the Big Apple looks to be nothing short of a showstopper and should be welcoming the most well-off luxury travellers when it opens in just a few months. “Most” is the key word here, considering some digging has finally revealed the one detail Aman New York is yet to be publically announced – prices," the Boss Hunting reports.

"From the dedicated jazz club and rich wine library to the high-end Japanese and Italian restaurants, the sprawling garden terrace and that signature 25,000-square-foot spa, Aman New York will undoubtedly be a treat for the uncompromising luxury traveller."

"The project, led by the Soviet-born billionaire Vladislav Doronin, is the first outpost in the city of Aman Resorts. Based in Switzerland, with properties in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and the western U.S., Aman has long occupied the zenith of luxury travel, offering sui generis experiences in exotic, secluded locales: coastal Vietnam, the mountains of Bhutan, Moroccan olive groves, the pinewoods of southwestern Turkey," the Curbed reports.

"With nightly rates that can exceed $4,000, the resorts are principally characterized by an otherworldly beauty that arises from pairing unsullied landscapes with exquisite minimalist design. They emphasize tranquillity, peace, and (inevitably) wellness.

"The Aman condos appeared to sell well: An Asian buyer contracted to purchase the five-story, 12,536-square-foot penthouse — sheltered beneath the Crown’s copper-green, gold-accented pinnacle with godlike views of Central Park — for $180 million. Two units beneath it, listed for $72 million and $73 million, went into contract, too, and the hotel was scheduled to open in 2020.

Testimonials from Trip Advisor

"Location: can’t be beaten. Bergdorf Goodman and Central Park right at your doorstep. Interiors: stunning design albeit a little dark and moody. The restaurants and rooms have lovely light but behind this the reception areas and spa have very limited light. Rooms: exceptionally spacious, with a fire, huge bathroom and dressing area. Was upgraded on arrival, but I suspect there are no bad rooms in this hotel. The rooms have every gadget known to man, including a toilet with 7 different settings. Nespresso machine but no milk or milk frother. I guess they want you to order the $16 latte every time from in room dining. Was welcomed by a plate of chocolates and a birthday cake, which was a nice touch but not extraordinary.

Spa: 3 levels of cavernous but very well appointed treatment rooms. Amazing branding with leisure wear and spa products available for purchase.. There is an extensive spa menu but there appears to be very limited availability of therapists. My treatment was very good."

"Great location & design, this is the most expensive city hotel in the world."
