World's Largest Lug Nut: world record set in Lansing, Michigan

Lansing, Michigan, United States--A giant Lug Nut on a smoke stack celebrates the Lansing Lugnuts minor league baseball team; it towers over the Stadium District, in Lansing, Michigan, but is located off South Cedar Street near Michigan Avenue and sets the world record for being the World's Largest Lug Nut, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"In 1999, the Lansing Lugnuts Single-A minor league baseball team was formed."

"When minor league baseball came back to Lansing, Michigan, in the mid-1990s, the “Lugnuts” was chosen as the local team name. Though somewhat controversial at the time, it has become a beloved nickname that translates into a great cheer; “Let’s Go Nuts!,” when fans are trying to inspire the team or celebrating a victory," the Atlas Obscura reports.


"Shortly after the team began playing baseball in Lansing, an oversized lug nut was installed atop a brick smokestack across the street from the team’s home field, the Cooley Law School Stadium. Today, it proudly symbolizes the 20-plus years of Lugnuts baseball history and tradition in the city of Lansing."
