World's Largest Ice Cream Sundae Sculpture: world record in Yermo, California

Yermo, California, United States--In Yermo, just east of Barstow at the Calico Road exit, stands a 70-foot ice cream sundae beckoning passersby to stop at Eddie World, a desert destination that must be visited to be believed; the giant Ice Cream Sundae is built on top of a water tank erected in the front corner of the Eddie World parking lot; the giant cherry on top and pretty much the entire tower lights up at night; it sets the world record for being the World's Largest Ice Cream Sculpture, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"The interior of Eddie World is basically one massive room, with row after row of bins for candy," the Weird California reports.

"Along the walls were various stations for food and other sales items. Pizza, sushi, various chocolates, ice cream, coffee, etc are around the walls of the massive room. Giant columns supported the ceiling, and were covered, floor to ceiling, in mosaic tiles. Two large pizza ovens sit on the far side, with a beautiful tile mosaic on the bottom of the counter in front of them. To the right of the pizza ovens is a wall dedicated to LA Laker memorabilia. Another station has a box that can create custom candy artwork."

"The giant Ice Cream Sundae is built on top of a water tank erected in the front corner of the Eddie World parking lot. The water tank was transformed into a giant sundae during the September and October months of 2017. The giant cherry on top and pretty much the entire tower lights up at night."

"If you’re driving Interstate 15 between L.A. and Las Vegas, you can’t miss it. In Yermo, just east of Barstow at the Calico Road exit, stands a 65-foot ice cream sundae beckoning passersby to stop at EddieWorld, a desert destination that must be visited to be believed," the SDSU Alumni reports.

"Owner Alex Ringle describes it as “probably a travel center,” admitting that his business is difficult to categorize “because there’s nothing else like it.”

"On five acres sit 150 parking spots, 18 Tesla supercharging stations, six ChargePoint DC fast chargers, 26 fuel pumps, the giant sundae, and a 27,000-square-foot structure housing an astonishing array of amenities. What’s inside provokes smiles and amazement “because we are doing so many unique things all under one roof,” Ringle explains," the SDSU Alumni reports.

"65-foot-high cylindrical water storage tank tower with an ice cream sundae top, garnished with sprinkles, a cherry, and two straws. If you can, check out the urinals inside the Eddie World gas station," the Roadside America reports.

"Along I-15, there's a water tank modified to look like a large ice cream sundae."

"Off I-15 just before/after Barstow, CA. Eddie World is like a large indoor candy and pizza shopping mall/mini mart."

"This treat for the eyes is a promotional sundae for Eddie World, a huge place for sweets, snacks, and gas. Whether you have the munchies or need a real meal they seem to have a bit of everything. And it's so close to Peggy Sue's Diner and Dino Park! If you're looking for the cleanest bathrooms ever while you're on the road, this is the place."

Testimonials from Trip Advisor

"We were intrigued by the giant ice cream sundae we could see from the highway, and since we were on a rather long stretch of our road trip, we decided to explore. What fun! Eddie World is unique. Rows and rows of candies, chocolates, nuts and trail mixes - anything you can imagine is there. Surround that with fun souvenirs and tchotchkes, and places to eat. I also remember one of the largest selections of stuffed animals I've ever seen, and some really fun old-style lunchboxes. We must have spent at least an hour just walking around looking at everything. It was a great short respite from our long drive. Definitely follow the giant ice cream sundae to this delightful place."

"Found the mother of all gas stations in the world. Situated in front of Eddie World is a 65-foot-tall ice cream Sunday with a cherry on top. An eye catcher. This huge ice cream serves as a water tank for the gas station. After seeing this ice cream, your curiosity will get the better of you. A visit is necessary. The gas station is referred to as the “Disneyland of Gas Stations.” It is unbelievable. This massive 27,000 square foot establishment is packed with a plethora of fantastic items. My first thought after entering this gas station world was “Holy Molly, is this for real?”

"This is a great place to stop on the way to Vegas in the middle of nowhere! Clean restrooms, lots of drink and food options. About every candy you can imagine!"

"EddieWorld is THE place to stop on the hellish drive between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Just look for the giant fake ice cream cone and take an exit.

EddieWorld is a one-stop shop for road trippers. There are tons of bottled sodas, waters, iced tea, fountain drinks and more. They have a popcorn and fudge counter that's open on busy travel days. Tons of stuffed animals and candy and nuts of all kinds. Mexican candies, sugar free chocolates peanuts, and homemade jerky. But wait, there's more: toys and POP! figures and sports decals and keychains and lottery scratch off tickets. A very busy Peet's Coffee is located inside. They have ice cream, too."

"This place has just about every type of candy you could want. We bought a few different kinds and found all of it to be very fresh! It was a bit pricey but we went there twice and stocked up our RV with sweet treats."
