World’s Largest Spur: Lampasas, Texas sets world record
LAMPASAS, Texas, United States--Lampasas is proud to be home of a giant spur; created by artist Wayland Dobbs in Cherokee, it's a steel sculpture with a shank shaped like a lady's leg in a cowgirl boot, it measures 10.33 m (33 ft 10.75 in) tall, 6.44 m (21 ft 1.5 in) long and 2.65 m (8 ft 8.52 in) wide, setting the world record for being the World's Largest Spur, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.
The
World's Largest Spur stands at 35-feet high, 20-feet wide, and was placed on a concrete slab weighing 40,000 pounds. The rowel is at the top of the spurs and is outlined with neon lights at night.
According ot the Atlas Obscura, "the spur was erected in 2016. It weighs about 10,000 pounds and is comprised of steel, copper, and iron. The spur stands at 35-feet high, 20-feet wide, and was placed on a concrete slab weighing 40,000 pounds. The rowel is at the top of the spurs and is outlined with neon lights at night."
"The spur is visible from the road as you drive past. There is a large parking lot (for a cafe and dog grooming) that is easy to pull into. You can park your car easily and get out to take photos."

Spur is a city in Dickens County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,318 at the 2010 census, up from 1,088 at the 2000 census. A city council resolution passed July 2014 proclaimed Spur the "nation's first tiny house-friendly town."
On October 9, 2009, Spur celebrated its centennial with the dedication of a monumental sculpture of a spur, created by local welder John Grusendorf. The event, sponsored by the Dickens County Historical Commission, was held at Dyess Park off Texas State Highway 70.
