Youngest Catholic bishop: Father Cristian Dumitru Crisan sets world record
Vatican City State--Holy Father Pope Francis agreed on the canonical election made by the Synod of Bishops of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek-Catholic, through which Father Cristian Dumitru Crişan, 38, was elected Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Alba-Iulia and Făgăraș (Romania); Father Crisan thus became the Youngest Catholic bishop, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

Father Cristian Dumitru Crisan was born on October 11, 1981 in the town of Santu, Mures County, Romania.

He studied Theology at Blaj and took a bachelor's degree in Theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum "Sant'Anselmo" in Rome. On May 11, 2008, he was ordained a priest, being held in the Archdiocese of Alba-Iulia and Fagaras.

He has a degree in canon law at the "Utriusque Iuris" Institute of the Lateran Pontifical University, and in 2012 he obtained his doctorate at the same University.

In the same year he was appointed parish priest of "Saint George" Parish in Paris and rector of the Greek Catholic Mission in France. In 2013, he was appointed notary of the Synod of Bishops of the Greek-Catholic Church in Romania. In 2014 he was appointed Defender of the connection in the Provincial Court of First Instance of the Archdiocese of Paris, and in 2016 he was appointed judge of the same court.

Between 2016-2017 he attended the masters courses at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the Catholic Institute in Paris, obtaining the master's degree II in co-tutorship with the University "Paris IV Sorbonne". A year later, he obtained the "Emouna - l'amphi des religions" Certificate at the Institute of Political Science in Paris.

On April 9, 2018, Holy Father Pope Francis appointed him as Apostolic Visitor for the Greek-Roman Catholic believers in Western Europe, and on October 11, 2018, he was appointed National Coordinator for the pastorate of Greek-Roman Catholics in Italy by the Permanent Council of the Conference. Italian Episcopal.

Before this, the youngest Catholic bishop in the world was the Greek-Catholic bishop of Ukraine Stepan Sus (born 7 Oct 1981).
