"The record, titled "Most Lens Replacement Procedures Performed in a Single Session," marks the 10th anniversary of Opticline Dr. Angelescu in Deva and reflects the surgical expertise, standardized medical workflows, and level of team coordination developed over the past decade.

"The 130 surgical procedures were performed consecutively over an 11-hour period. This achievement surpasses a previous surgical session during which the Opticline Dr. Angelescu team completed 92 procedures in 7 hours and 35 minutes.

The procedures included both cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange (RLE). In both cases, the eye's natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens
.

"Throughout the surgical session, patient safety and adherence to medical protocols remained the team's top priorities. At Opticline Dr. Angelescu, the average duration of such a procedure ranges from 3 to 5 minutes, supported by the surgical technique employed, the surgeon's experience, and the standardization of medical processes.

"This record is the result of years of clinical experience, advanced technology, and a team working according to clearly established protocols. For us, medical excellence means, above all, precision, predictability, and safety for every patient. Behind the number of procedures lies the same medical rigor we apply every day in our clinic," said
Dr. Daniel Angelescu, founder of Opticline.

"To achieve the record, Opticline Dr. Angelescu established a dedicated medical and operational workflow supported by approximately 30 team members, with responsibilities spanning medical care, surgery, preoperative preparation, postoperative monitoring, and administration.

"Patients were scheduled to arrive at the clinic at designated times, following a controlled pathway through each stage of the procedure. The clinic was organized into dedicated areas for reception and registration, preoperative preparation, surgery, clinical support, and immediate postoperative monitoring.

"Two external medical specialists participated as independent observers, overseeing the event and monitoring compliance with medical protocols. The procedures fall within the category of
Micro-Incisional Cataract Surgery (MICS) and are performed through micro incisions using high-precision surgical microscopes and ultrasound phacoemulsification technology.

"The procedures involved advanced ophthalmic microsurgery and diagnostic equipment, including the ZEISS OPMI Lumera 700 and OPMI Lumera I surgical microscopes, the Alcon Constellation phacoemulsification platform, and the ZEISS IOLMaster 700 optical biometry system.

Ten Free Procedures Provided to Patients from Vulnerable Groups

The record-setting initiative also included a social component: ten of the procedures performed on October 21 were provided free of charge to patients from vulnerable groups.
