World's Heaviest Eggplant / Aubergine, world record set in Murrysville, Pennsylvania

Murrysville, Pennsylvania, United States--Harrison City resident Erik Gunstrom, who only started cultivating eggplants three years ago, presented two eggplants for official weighing at the Giant Eagle Market District between Export and Murrysville, overseen by Jay Yohe, president of the Pennsylvania Giant Pumpkin Growers Association; measuring 78.7 cm (2 ft 7 in) around its middle, one fruit earned the new world record for the World's Heaviest Eggplant / Aubergine, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"Eggplants have just entered the record books in a big way. A new heaviest aubergine, weighing 3.969 kg, about the same as a domestic cat, was officially crowned in Pennsylvania, US, on 19 August," the NDTV reports.
"Measuring 78.7 cm (2 ft 7 in) around its middle, the fruit earned recognition from the Guinness World Records (GWR) as the largest aubergine in the world. The giant aubergine was grown by Harrison City resident Erik Gunstrom, who only started cultivating eggplants three years ago.
"On 19 August, Gunstrom presented two eggplants for official weighing at the Giant Eagle Market District between Export and Murrysville, overseen by Jay Yohe, president of the Pennsylvania Giant Pumpkin Growers Association."

"In the United States, a farmer from Pennsylvania, Erik Gunstrom, has accomplished an extraordinary feat. He grew a giant brinjal weighing nearly 4 kilograms, a size that earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records," the Newstrack reports.
"This achievement proves that with passion and determination, farming can make you known across the world."
"The heaviest aubergine/eggplant (Solanum melongena) weighed 3.969 kg (8 lb 12 oz) and was grown by Erik Gunstrom (USA) as confirmed in Export, Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA, on 19 August 2025," the Guinness World Records says.
"This surpassed the previous record of 3.778 kg (8 lb 5.3 oz) grown by Dave Bennett (USA), as confirmed in Bloomfield, Iowa, USA, on 31 July 2024."
