Richmond, Texas, United States--Richmond resident Antonio Romero Monteiro has more than 24,000 video games in his collection, which sets the world record for the World's Largest Video Game Collection,, according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

"The Texas man who holds the Guinness World Record for largest collection of video games said his collection has now grown to 24,268 games. Antonio Romero Monteiro of Richmond was originally awarded the record in December 2021, when his collection totaled 20,139 video games," the UPI reports.

"Guinness World Records said Monteiro, whose collection spans more than 100 video game consoles, now owns a total 24,268 games, amassing a collection worth an estimated $2.1 million."

"Richmond resident Antonio Romero Monteiro holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest video game collection of more than 24,000 games," the Fox 26 Houston reports.

"It doesn't stop there! Monteiro can also add four other Guinness World Record titles under his belt. He now holds the record for the largest collection of Xbox items, the largest collection of Sega items, the largest collection of Nintendo items, and the largest collection of PlayStation items.

"He first began building the impressive collection in 1987 when he was just 10-year-old starting off with games from his own personal collection. It's taken him more than 25 years to build it."

"The largest collection of videogames consists of 24,268 items and was achieved by Antonio Romero Monteiro (USA) in Richmond, Texas, USA, on 19 December 2021," the Guinness World Records says.

"Antonio has been collecting video games for 35 years, since he was 7 years old. Once he realized his collection had grown considerably he took it as a personal challenge to try and achieve a Guinness World Record title, which he in fact achieved in 2019."

"Those walls include complete collections for consoles like the Sony's PS2 and PS3, Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, Sega Dreamcast and several others," the CNET reports.

"The 10-minute video merits multiple viewings so you can spot some of the treasures, with plenty of chunky collector's editions and more than 100 systems (so you can play every game he owns).

"Monteiro started collecting as a kid after his parents gave him a copy of Golden Axe for Sega Genesis, and he cites the vampire-slayin' Super Castlevania IV for Nintendo SNES as his favorite."
