World’s longest Cuban sandwich, world record set in Florida

"Martin County is now home to the world’s longest Cuban sandwich after Old Havana Cafe and House of Hope built a 400-foot-long sandwich Saturday morning in Palm City. The massive sandwich broke the previous world record held by Tampa.

"A large crowd turned out to watch volunteers, and sandwich builders assemble the record-breaking Cuban sandwich and support the fundraiser," the
CBS 12 News reported.

"Martin County Commissioner Edward Ciampi was also on hand to complete the final measurement confirming the sandwich reached 400 feet."

"This exciting family-friendly event will bring the community together for a day of food, fun, and connection as we attempt to break the world record by building the longest Cuban sandwich ever made at 400 feet long! Guests are invited to come cheer on the sandwich builders, enjoy the fun, and witness an incredible community effort come to life," the official website says.

"Spectator admission is free, making this a perfect event for individuals and families! Cuban sandwich portions will be available for purchase once the building concludes.

The event's Presenting Sponsor, the Doris M. Carter Family Foundation, has pledged to double every donor's impact in the community by matching every donation made through the event up to $15,000!

"More than just breaking records, this event supports the mission of House of Hope and its efforts to empower our community to overcome hunger and hardship through healthy food access, education, financial assistance, workforce development, and other essential support services. Every registration, sponsorship, and donation helps keep these vital programs available for local individuals and families in need."

"Two metro areas in Florida, Tampa and Miami, boast they have the best Cuban sandwich, but Palm City in Martin County now claims to have built the world's longest one," the KSL reports.

"Community members produced a 400-foot-long sandwich at Justin Wilson Memorial Park on Sandpiper Way in Palm City. The previous record was 365 feet, set in Tampa in 2024. The event, called "Bite Into History: The
Longest Cuban Sandwich Ever Made," was a joint effort of Old Havana Cafe at 2225 SE Ocean Blvd. and the nonprofit House of Hope, which serves Martin County. Around the 1900s, cafes in Ybor City and nearby West Tampa sold the sandwiches to immigrant workers who were part of the cigar factories.

"Founded in 1984, House of Hope is a nonprofit organization that empowers Martin County residents to overcome hunger and hardship. House of Hope touches the lives of more than 30,000 people each month, helping with basic needs such as food, clothing, furniture, financial assistance, as well as longer-term case management services."
