"China’s first integrated large-scale fracturing vessel, Haiyang Shiyou 696, was recently launched, entering a new stage of system commissioning," the SASAC reports.

"At 99.8 meters long, 22 meters wide, and 9.9 meters deep, this vessel boasts advanced cutting-edge fracturing systems with liquid supply, blending and sand mixing units. Its high integration, intelligence, displacement, power, storage, and safety features ensure optimal efficiency for offshore fracturing operations. Notably, this pioneering vessel is the first of its kind to emerge from China.

"To overcome technical challenges, the project team launched dedicated R&D initiatives, inviting shipbuilding and fracturing experts to participate in the vessel’s design. Two highly skilled technical supervision teams were stationed at the shipyard to oversee construction quality."

"China has launched what operator CNOOC Ltd claims to be the world’s largest and its own first offshore hydraulic fracturing vessel, Hai Yang Shi You 696, as part of an ambitious drive to tap into offshore shale and low-permeability hydrocarbon reserves.

"The vessel was launched this week at Wuhu Shipyard in China's Anhui province and will now undergo mooring trials and high-load system integration tests, which will assess equipment compatibility under complex working conditions, including varying water depths and tidal changes," the
