World's First Dallas TV Series Theme Park, Hermes Slobozia sets world record

SLOBOZIA, Romania--Romanian businessman Ilie Alexandru (1952-2010), also known as 'Romania's J.R. Ewing', has built next to Slobozia City a replica of Soutfork Ranch, the Ewing family villa from the US television series "Dallas", inside the 'Hermes' Park, which sets the world record as the the World's First Dallas TV Series Theme Park, according to the World Record Academy.

The 'Dallas' series included 356 episodes and had become the most-watched series in the world and had spawned a successful spin-off series in Knots Landing.
Despite the censorship of Western productions in Eastern Europe, the series was broadcast in Romania because dictator Nicolae Ceausescu wanted to show his people the ills of capitalism.
The effect was the opposite, the series contributing to the awareness among Romanians that their standard of living is much lower than in the West.

Larry Hagman considered that this plan turned against Ceausescu and was a factor that contributed to the start of the December 1989 Revolution in Romania and to the execution of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Hagman explained his theory in 2011: “Ceausescu allowed this series to be shown to show how decadent we were, but the Romanians said: Well, we want some of those things too! It all ended with the Romanians who put Ceausescu on the wall, who was a dictator and shot him 500 times because they wanted all those things they saw in the series and they didn't even know that exist", The Toronto Sun reports.
"The Romanians have looked and said that they want it to be the same as the Americans," Hagman concluded.

"Dallas is an American prime time soap opera that aired on CBS from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991. The series revolved around an affluent and feuding Texas family, the Ewings, who owned the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork. (Wikipedia)
"The series originally focused on the marriage of Bobby Ewing and Pam Ewing, whose families were sworn enemies. As the series progressed, Bobby's elder brother, oil tycoon J. R. Ewing, became the show's breakout character, whose schemes and dirty business became the show's trademark.[4] When the show ended on May 3, 1991, J. R. was the only character to have appeared in every episode.
"The show was prominent for its cliffhangers, including the "Who shot J.R.?" mystery. The 1980 episode "Who Done It" remains the second-highest-rated primetime telecast ever.[5] The show also featured a "Dream Season", in which the entirety of season 9 was revealed to have been a dream of Pamela Ewing. After 14 seasons, the series finale "Conundrum" aired in 1991."

"Unlike the Southfork Ranch mock up copies made by Dallas series producers, the construction by Ilie Alexandru in Hermes Slobozia Park is integral, fully functional, being even larger than the original.
Being made after some photographers and images from the film, which were made with the wide angle lens (wide angle, which gives the impression of space), Hermes Slobozia was built as it seemed to the viewers, larger than in reality.

Ilie Alexandru's biggest dream came to fruition, however, in 1999, when
Larry Hagman, the interpreter of J.R. Exing visited the
Hermes Slobozia complex and was apparently delighted to find there and the ambition of his fan Ilie Alexandru to recreate a fully functional replica of the location in the most popular American series.
The life of Romanian millionaire Ilie Alexandru was as thrilling as that of his idol, J.R. Exing from the series "Dallaes". The sudden transition from communism to capitalism in Romania meant for the former cow farmer a glittering ascent to the life of a millionaire.
Unfortunately for him, the steep ascent was followed by an equally rapid fall, his wealth of millions of dollars reaching banks or being sold at auctions. The same fate also had the Hermes complex, which includes the Southfork Ranch replica, reaching only a pale memory of the glory times.

Most successful TV show- world record set by the Dallas TV series
"Southfork Ranch, Dallas, TX, USA -- Dallas, a series about a wealthy family in the oil business, was translated and dubbed into 67 languages in over 90 countries, holds the record for the highest rated episode with nearly 360 million viewers tuning in to see who shot J.R. and sets the world record for the Most successful TV show.
" The show debuted in April 1978 as a five-part miniseries on the CBS network, then was broadcast on that network for 13 seasons, from Saturday, September 23, 1978, to Friday, May 3, 1991. Larry Hagman is the only actor to appear in all 357 episodes of the series, and is the only regular cast member to be a native of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex."
