"The "Antim Ivireanul" County Library in Vâlcea houses a true architectural treasure, the stained glass dome in the form of a roof, "The Creation of the World". The work was created by the Vâlcea plastic artist Gheorghe Dican, vice president of UAP Romania.
"The creation is built approximately 30 m high from the base of the building and has an unfolded surface of 142 square meters, it is structured on 7 concentric circles divided into 168 modules, composed of 2,000 kilograms of colored glass, handmade, of Romanian origin, with lead reinforcement, in the ancient stained glass technique," the
official website says.
"The work materializes the elements of the concept that encompass the first manifestations of Divine Creation: air, fire, earth and water. At the bottom of the dome there are 12 circles in which are represented as many compositions that illustrate the main types of writing known so far: from Tartary to cuneiform, Phoenician, hieroglyphic, Berber, Sanskrit, Cretan, Hellenic, Persian, Cyrillic, syllabary and demotic."

The stained glass window is composed of 12 oval, with 12 compositions that illustrate the main types of writing known. The colored glass is executed manually, with lead reinforcement, in the old stained glass technique.

With medians and parallels, this is what the lower part looks like. The top of the globe symbolizes the solar motive. The first manifestations of Divine Creation: air, fire, earth and water are the basis of the work.

For over a year, a team of six people worked, coordinated by Romanian artist
Gheorghe Dican. He also incurred the cost of materials, $ 30,000. The installation lasted another three months.
Gheorghe Dican, plastic artist, vice president of UAP Romania: "It was also the madness of the unknown, because I did not realize from the beginning what technical problems I will face. It is unlikely that this technique has been used by others. "

"A masterpiece that emphasizes the idea of the book, the idea of the word - first of all it was the word. And"
Making the World "is an extremely valuable work through chromatics, through the message it transmits." - Remus Grigorescu, director of the County Library "Antim Ivireanul".

TESTIMONIAL
"Some time ago, Gheorghe Dican received a letter from the Guinness Book, stating that his stained glass window could not be taken into account, as there is no category in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest stained glass windows in the world. The painter is congratulated by the specialists of the Guinness Book for his achievement, but nothing more," the TV Antena 3 News reports.
